e are excited to welcome Makena Mugambi to our team this summer! She will be working alongside our U.S. and Kenya teams focusing on the expansion of our University Scholarship program. Her passion for serving students and building strong leaders will bring great value to our female scholars!
Makena shares,
"My name is Makena Mugambi and I am glad for the opportunity to be working alongside The Humanity Share team in Kenya.
I am from Nairobi, Kenya, and am passionate to see my generation being equipped and resourced through education, community, and leadership development. For the last five years, I lived in Holland, Michigan where I received my Bachelor's degree in Communication with a focus on Sociology and Organizational Leadership from Hope College. Following the completion of my degree, I joined the staff of the Phelps Scholars Program at Hope College. The Phelps Scholars Program is a first-year academic and residential life program for students in higher education seeking to grow in their connection with people from different backgrounds that hold different views.
As I step into this role, I am looking forward to connecting with the efforts of the organization and seeing the increase of impact among the girls and families of Kajiado and West Pokot.
I would love to connect with and get to know you! Please feel free to email me at makena@thehumanityshare.org to get connected."
